Perhaps not the best show, or most thought provoking but still loads of fun was Sun Yuan & Peng Yu, DEAR, at Galerie Perrotin in the Rue de Turenne. A statue of an old granny seems to be taking her ray out for a stroll amid a flock of exotic stuffed birds, while in another room a social gathering has turned a bunch of swells into rock heads. There were several other elements to this show, including an interesting video, a live performance at the opening by a creepy man with no arms or legs, an air hose gone berserk and a large pot of spilled bean soup. This is a show that would look good in the windows of a department store, but also was a welcome tonic after seeing alot of deadly dull high end minimalist painting, which seems to be fashionable in the quartier.

Was there any explanation to the meaning of the Grannie taking the Manta rays for a walk as it is now stuck in my head , I will surely not sleep untill this is resolved......I'm serious!

I'm not sure but it might have something to do with people's ideas about 'the afterlife'.
